Whilst we're on the topic of journalling, I want also teach you how to create a gratitude list. A gratitude list is something your can turn to in moments of despair. You know, those moments when you didn't get the job or the jeans didn't fit and you feel like absolute shit?
A gratitude list is something you put together to remind yourself of all the things you have to be grateful for in your life. Reflecting on the things you're most grateful for will lead you to a happier and more content life, no matter how much or little you have.
All it takes is a few moments to write down a list of all the things you're lucky to have - if you're anything like me and you love creating lists, then this should be easy!
Start With Your Gratitude Journaling Prompts
There are so many things to be grateful for, especially if there are things in your life that you take for granted.
For example, good health, because even if your health isn't great, it could always be worse. A job, money in the bank, a home, food and clean running water. Good friends and family, your partner, animals, belongings, freedom of religion and speech or even coffee and weekends!
Of course, you should have these things in your gratitude list, but also think deeper. Here are some gratitude journaling prompts to get you started.
Write about a time you were grateful for something a loved one did for you.
What are three ways to thank someone without saying “thank you”?
What is something that makes you unique that you’re grateful for?
Look out the window, what’s something you’re grateful for outside?
If you had to give up all of your possessions but three, which three would you keep and why?
Write a thank you note to yourself.
Think of a memory you’re grateful for and why?
Write about something you’re looking forward to?
When was the last time you laughed until you cried?
List three things that made you smile this week.
